Recommended Platforms for the Tesla Model Y

Not every platform suits every car. For the Tesla Model Y, in order of fit:

Generation-Specific Notes

The Tesla Model Y covers Original (2020–2023), Juniper refresh (2025+). Buyer expectations vary by generation; document accordingly.

Model-Specific Wear Points to Document

A buyer researching a Tesla Model Y already knows the model’s reputation. Your job is to address each known wear point with photographic evidence — either showing the area is intact, or honestly disclosing the wear with a clear close-up.

Charge port pin condition

Same as Model 3 — show idle charge port lit blue; verify pins from frequent supercharging

Rear hatch alignment

Model Y rear hatch is a known panel-alignment area; photograph closed and open with gap visible

Third-row seats (if 7-seat equipped)

Show third-row in both up and stowed positions; rare option that adds value

Frunk seal

Same as Model 3; photograph the frunk seal for water-intrusion evidence

Battery state-of-health screen

Photograph the in-car battery rated range; compare to original EPA

AP/FSD hardware version

HW3 vs HW4 distinction; photograph the in-car software screen

Rear seat back panels

Family-use Model Ys show seat-back wear from car seats; photograph honestly

Make-Specific Shot Tips

Beyond the standard photo set, these Tesla Model Y-specific shots make the difference:

Cargo area with rear seats up AND folded

Show both states. Model Y’s cargo flexibility is a key buying point versus Model 3 sedan.

Frunk and rear cargo well

Photograph the frunk open and the rear cargo subfloor (where a spare lives in ICE crossovers).

Document AP/FSD hardware version on screen

Same as Model 3: Settings → Service → Hardware. Photograph the screen.

Show all charging accessories included

Mobile Connector, adapters, and any J1772 to NACS adapter (or vice versa). These are valued inclusions.

Standard Photo Set (Use After Model-Specific Shots)

Once the model-specific documentation is done, complete the standard listing photo set:

  • Exterior (6–8): Front 3/4 hero, rear 3/4, both side profiles, front and rear straight-on
  • Interior (5–7): Dashboard, instrument cluster (powered on), front seats, rear seats, console, infotainment screen
  • Proof shots (4–6): Odometer close-up, engine bay (hood open), trunk, all four wheels
  • Condition (variable): Every visible flaw with context shot + close-up

Pricing Your Tesla Model Y

Photo strategy and pricing reinforce each other. Match your photo budget to the price tier:

  • $30k–$75k: 30–50 photos. Buyer scrutiny is high — match it with comprehensive documentation.

Compare to Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds private-party value before listing. For a deeper breakdown, see how many photos do you need to sell a car.
